Latin Twist Cafe Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Another awesome little Cuban restaurant nearby. I had to try the mofongo and rope vieja, since I've never had mofongo before. I know the name is kinda off-putting (mo fungus??), but you can't go wrong with fried green plantains mashed with pork cracklins. It was really great and gigantic, especially with the rope vieja! The side salad that came with it was made of mostly spinach leaves, which is pretty impressive considering most side salads are made with iceberg lettuce. I suggest sharing a mofongo/meat plate or planning on bringing half of it home! I took off a star because it was quite slow to eat in at lunch time. I don't blame the girls working there because they seemed to have multiple jobs including hostess, waitress, bussing tables, serving food for to-go orders, and also cashier. Regardless, I would definitely come back again!

I am sorry to downgrade this restaurant. The last few times that I dined there, I found the food to be lukewarm. As the food is in metal trays on the counter, all day, I don't believe that they maintain a proper temperature. I like my food served hot, rice, meat, etc. the ropa vieja lacks flavor, it's just shredded beef, same goes for the pork. Not to be cheap, but I don't like being charged $2.00 for bread, especially when I always tip at least 20%.

Authentic Cuban food. The mofongo is excellent as is the grilled salmon and pork. The cafe is small but packed with people. The prices are excellent for a family.

    I dig their nontraditional Cuban.

This place is nothing to really talk about. I think it was just canned food warned up. The meats were not that good at all. I will not go back again. It's simply not very good and not a hot spot at all.

The worst, worst, worst service ever. A bunch of teenagers in charge if running the place, and they don't really care too. Never again!

Great option for hispanic food in Wesley Chapel! The pork that I had was amazing! Considering that it was a pork shoulder or 'una pierna', cooking that type of meat is an art form in and of itself. It was very soft and could be pulled apart with a fork. Tamal was very good as well as the red beans or frijoles colorados. I have enough for dinner and lunch tomorrow. Thank God for them! The only reason why I'm giving this place 4/5 stars is because I can't speak for the rest of the food. I definitely will be going back to correct that.

So yummy. This place is close by and I've wanted to stop in for awhile, but I always get outvoted when we go out to dinner. My family is kicking themselves now, that we didn't go sooner. It was fantastic little strip mall cafe. My son had a Cuban and black beans and rice, which was a huge serving. He said it was one of the best Cubans he ever had. I had the picadillo with black beans, rice and ripe plantains and it was incredible. The portions were all so big we had plenty to take home to eat later and it was even better when we heated it up. It was reasonably priced and the server was very friendly and fast. We will definitely be putting this in our regular rotation! I can't wait to try some of the other things on their menu

  • Kimberly W.

I like the atmosphere, next time I may split my meal! The cafe con Leche was perfect! Only thing negative... I've had better seasoned black beans before....At first, it took a while to get a server to my table, but she apologized. Would bring my friends here.

Normally Latin Twist is very good. I had the chicken mofongo it was disgusting it was so dry it was hard to break up.It must have been sitting for 2 days then reheated. the roasted chicken was small and very dry it also tasted old. my dinner didn't stay down but for 20 min. Dont think i will be back.

We came for dinner and had the Camarofongo (mofonogo with shrimp and garlic sauce), breaded chicken and fried pork chunks. The food was excellent! For dessert we had a flan and cafe con leche. The flan is to die for and a must have when you go. The desserts are made fresh by the owner. Last but not least is the service.... The girls are great! Always sweet and on the ball.

This is one of those places where you have to force yourself to stop eating because the food is so good you want to eat it all. The food comes in large portions but is really very good. Often I crave cuban food and leave a restaurant disappointed and not feeling so well but that's not the case at Latin Twist. The cuban sandwiches get 5 stars all by themselves because they have roast pork and not that sliced pork other places use to save money. The service is fast and friendly. The café is small but clean and comfortable.

Great food and friendly Palomilla steak and Mofongo was awesome. Clean and good service.

It's always a pleasure to eat here. Food is bar none the best. I've been there maybe 65 times. And every time the food is fresh and delicious. The staff is great no complaints at all.. I do want to mention that the food is not Cuban it's Dominican/Puerto rican food. That's probably why some confusion and other yelpers didn't enjoy it, because their expecting Cuban food. And NO it's not the same thing..

Great local place for Latin food. Food is delicious and the people are friendly. I've been coming here for a while now with my family and it never disappoints.

I have to change my previous rating and bring it down to one star! First and foremost to the owner or manager SHAME ON YOU! How dare you take the waitresses tips and not let them keep their tips at all. That is not how you keep good employees. Me and my family think your food is awesome however this has me second guessing returning and upset at the fact that I even recommended your restaurant to several people already. I don't want to condone these business practices. Hopefully you see the error of your ways and change so my husband may return and eat some mofongo. Because both my son and my husband are very angry at the fact that I might ban your restaurant. We are in 2015! I'm surprised you have employees that are willing to put up with this at all. SHAME!!!

I'm sure other dishes are as good as they are intended to be I had for first time "mofongo con ropa vieja" it was awesome still far from a real portorrican mofongo, I'd definitely try it again and over and over.... Very huge portions for the price and tasty as well. I cannot give 5 stars because being hispanic I know what a muffing tastes like, this is the only reason.

I am so sad to be posting this review because I absolutely love the place and the food, which is the reason I am giving it 3 stars, but I am unfortunately taking two stars away because there is this particular staff member who just doesn't know what being attentive polite and just happy at all means... We keep coming back because the food is just too good not to eat there... But honestly, every time we come back we think 'man, we must really like this place to take this lady's rudeness and unwelcoming attitude.

I was excited to try Latin Twist for the first time today.... but was grossed out and disappointed to find a long, dark strand of hair in the Shrimp with Garlic sauce. I noticed it before the server even stepped away from the table. She took it away immediately and minutes later brought out a "new" one, but I couldn't bring myself to eat it as I wasn't sure if it was a new dish or if they just pulled the hair out. The servers didn't seem to really care.... Maybe this happens often? Not sure, not coming back.

Stopped in today for something new for lunch and discovered a very flavorful very tasty Cuban sub. My beautiful wife had the Cuban pork with rice and black beans and she loved it. My Cuban sub was traditional with pulled Cuban pork, a delicious spicy mustard, mayo pickle ham on a buttered and pressed Cuban roll. The pork wasn't too vinegary wasn't too greasy and was seasoned to perfection. Very tender pork. Very good Latin food or sure.

Had the urge for Latino Food and since my Family is always talking about the Latin Twist Restaurant I decided to go there. Good and Friendly atmosphere and the smell of latin food made me so happy . I ordered Ropa Vieja , Yellow rice with Vegetables , sweet plantains , Red beans in sauce . For dessert I had the Flan . All in All a good food experience . Ropa vieja was delicious , tender , well seasoned and flavorful. The rice was as I would make it fluffy and well seasoned , The sweet plantains were spot on and delicious , The red beans were like my Mom use to make delicious and tasty. The meal was well worth the price . For Dessert I had the Flan which was creamy and full of the caramel flavor which I love . For a great meal at an affordable price go and check out the Latin Twist Cafe on Bruce B. Downs , it is worth the trip.

We have visited the location more than I'd like to admit. The place is cozy, the food is ok, nothing extraordinary about it. I do find that their prices are a bit too high for what they serve. Other than that, it is an ok place to stop and eat!

  • Kirsten H.

SO GOOD. Love the ropa vieja, mofungo con chicarron, pulled pork, picadillo, and ESPECIALLY their vanilla flan. HUGE portions, fast service, good prices. I wish I could come more often but I always finish the whole plate because I can't stop myself LOL. It may be good but it's rather heavy food so I can't eat it too frequently :).

    (5)

Very good ... Service was fantastic ... Picadillo was yummmmm... I laughed when got my stuffed potatoes ... I ordered one and received 6 small ones they were great just never seen it served that way

Great service. I ordered a mofongo ropa vieja to go and it came out pipin hot in about ten minutes. The best part was it was still nice and hot when I got home. I would have given this place 5 stars but the ropa vieja was a bit greasy for my taste. It did have good flavor though. Everything else was spot on! I'll be going back to try other things, the Cuban sandwich looked amazing.

Went this Sunday around 5:30pm. Three other families were there. The place is very clean and simple decorated. There are about 10 tables. The food looked delicious except for the arroz con gandules and the yellow rice. I can tell when the rice is not fresh, sorry. So I opted for the white rice and it was good. The pork looked delicious but I decided to try the ropa vieja and sweet plaintains. It was very very good. Is nice to have a Latin rest around the Wesley Chapel area, actually, we need MORE! The service was ok. The girl that greeted us didn't smile or ask anything except what you want and when you look at her face you might add, and do it quick! No customer service manners at all. So, go for the food.

One of the best places for Cuban food in New Tampa. We love it and try to eat here at least once a week. Try the Yuca frita and the Ropa Vieja.

We came in and had a "snack event" before a dinner we had to attend. The deviled crabs, stuffed potatoes, sweet plantains, and cafe con leche did not disappoint. The owner was super friendly, the quarters are impressively clean, and the wait staff was attentive and courteous. Sounds like a win to me. We should be back.

Awesome food. Had the baked chicken with Mofongo. It was great. The aji sauce they put on it was amazing. Food was fresh and came out fast. Finished the meal with home made vanilla cheese flan. The caramel sauce was to die for. Highly recommended.

Perfect location for the upcoming hospital that is opening up next year. The service was wonderful even though they were short of staff (it happened to be dinnertime). The prices were decent but expensive if you plan on eating here daily for lunch. We had ordered the Steak with onions with black beans on rice. The kids menu quesadilla was mediocre. Overall it is good for the area we are in with limited authentic spanish food.

If you are looking for other options besides the food options at wiregrass, then just go down the street to Latin Twist Cafe. I like this place bc it's family owned and quaint and cute. It's right across the street from the hospital, but other than that, it's more residential area. There is also a greek place and ribs place in this same strip mall. Okay, what counts - The yummies!!! Cuban food in this area - I'm so happy it's here. there not any of these types of options until now. They have an area where you can look at some of the different food options and pick from that, or pick from the menu. We picked a shredded pork and beef dish and it came with sides - rice, black beans, plaintains. All the usual cuban sides, you pick what you want. The servings are big, and the food is yummy. The husband and wife owner are very nice, accommodating, and helpful. Check this place out. They have one or two small tables where you can eat outside also and bring your puppy!

Best Cuban Restaraunt in local area of Wesley Chapel. Picadillo, Cuban Sandwiches, Pork Dishes! Awesome place, and Friendly Service. It can get a little busy and tight on a weekend evening. You can always pick up your order! My Family and I are local visitors of this restaraunt!
